Samdech Techo: Is there any statement that says I should use both peaceful means and armed force?

Phnom Penh: Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the acting head of state of Cambodia, has clearly stated that there is no statement anywhere in which he says that both peaceful means and armed force should be used to seize Cambodian territory that the Thai military is illegally occupying.

In a meeting with provincial, city, district, commune, and Sangkat councils and leaders of departments and units around Siem Reap and Oddar Meanchey provinces on June 10, 2026, Samdech Techo said Thai journalists should re-watch the video that Samdech said on June 9 about the two options for resolving the border dispute between the two countries.

Samdech Techo said, “This is just an additional explanation. The important thing is that Thai journalists watch the video again and share it clearly. I said that if we use military means, we must occupy that territory. The first goal is Cambodia’s failure in political and diplomatic affairs. This is the first goal because we are the ones who violated the ceasefire. We have destroyed all the so-called international trust in us because now no one believes that Cambodia will invade Thailand.”

Samdech Techo emphasized that the use of military force will continue for generations and will not easily disappear. The Head of State further emphasized that only peaceful means can lead to a sustainable solution.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen continued, “Is there any statement that I say uses both peaceful means and armed force? I don’t say a word, on the contrary, I am against the use of force to take back control.”

Please note that Samdech Techo’s statement came after some Thai media quoted Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s statement in a meeting with nearly 3,000 refugee families, which is different from the truth about Cambodia’s position on resolving the border issue with Thailand.
