Ministry of Public Works installs additional traffic safety equipment on National Road 5 to raise awareness among drivers

Phnom Penh: Mr. Peng Purna, Minister of Public Works and Transport, has always paid close attention to the safety of citizens on the roads, especially on roads with heavy traffic and high risk of traffic accidents.

Actually, on June 10, 2026, Ms. Men Manvy, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Secretary-General of the National Committee for Road Safety of Cambodia, inspected the installation of additional traffic safety equipment on National Road 5 (School Point No. 5), including: warning lights, rumble strips, and traffic signs to encourage drivers to consider road safety.

The inspection was conducted with the participation of the National Road 5 Project Team, the JICA Team, the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Police Commissioner, the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, local authorities and other relevant parties.

It should be noted that 24 new traffic lights will be deployed along National Road 5 (Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambang and Banteay Meanchey) along with other traffic safety equipment to facilitate traffic and avoid traffic accidents.

The materials were transported to the installation site, equipped according to the designated location, which had accurate and clear studies from the technical team of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Japanese friendly party.
