Samdech Men Sam An invites to inaugurate Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument in Pursat Province

Pursat: On the morning of June 10, 2026, Mr. Khoy Rida, Governor of Pursat Provincial Government, was invited to attend the official inauguration ceremony of the “Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument” in Pursat Province, under the high chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Men Sam An, Supreme Personal Advisor to the King and Chairman of the National Council of the United Front for the Development of the Cambodian Fatherland, together with Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Guo, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The grand ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many, Minister of Public Service, leaders of the Senate and the National Assembly, senior officials of the Ministry of Defense of Vietnam, leaders of Pursat and Dong Thap provinces, as well as many national and international dignitaries.

Mr. Khoy Rida, Governor of Pursat Provincial Government, stated that this friendship monument is a testament to the heroic and skilled Vietnamese soldiers who sacrificed their lives together with the Cambodian army in liberating the nation and people from the genocidal Pol Pot regime. The construction of the stupa began on February 22, 2023 and will be completed on November 24, 2025 on an area of 15,000 square meters with a height of 21 meters.

Speaking on the occasion, Samdech Kittisanghabandit Men Sam An highlighted the importance of this achievement, which is the last stupa among the provinces. Recalling the bitter and heroic history of the joint struggle between the Vietnamese volunteer army and the Cambodian army. The King emphasized that Cambodia-Vietnam diplomatic relations have been in place for 59 years, and by 2027, Cambodia and Vietnam will celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which is a sign of strength and mutual understanding.

Meanwhile, the King spoke about the position of the Royal Government of Cambodia in resolving the border issue. With Thailand. The King said that the Royal Government of Cambodia has been firmly adhering to international legal mechanisms and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) to peacefully resolve border issues.

The King recalled with pain the aggression caused by the Thai side in the past, which always had ambitions to seize Cambodian territory, leading to the outbreak of armed conflict. Causing the loss of lives of soldiers and innocent civilians on both sides. The King called on all parties to respect each other’s sovereignty for long-term peace and development.

At the end of the ceremony, the King and his delegation cut the ribbon to officially inaugurate the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument, with the strong hope that this achievement will become a place To continue to strengthen the bond of solidarity between the two nations as well as a place to attract national and international tourists.
