Mr. Huot Hak: Organizing the “Francophone Village” event is an opportunity to show Cambodia’s smile, the smile of Francophonie, to the world.

Phnom Penh: Mr. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, emphasized that organizing the event accompanying the “Francophone Village” is not only a matter of national pride, but also an important opportunity to show the “Cambodian smile as a Francophone smile” to the world.

The remarks by Mr. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism and Vice-Chairman of the National Organizing Committee for the 20th Francophonie Summit 2026, were made during a meeting on “General Information and Preparatory Activities for the “Francophone Village”” under the co-chairmanship of Ms. Kittibandit Ung Kanthaphavy, Minister of Women’s Affairs and Chair of Sub-Committee 5, on June 11, 2026.

On this occasion, the Minister highlighted that 2026 is a historic year for Cambodia, which has the honor of hosting the 20th Francophonie Summit, and organizing the accompanying event “Francophone Village” is not only a matter of national pride, but also an important opportunity to show the world that “Cambodia’s smile is the smile of Francophonie.”

The Minister also added that it is also an opportunity to showcase the culture and traditions of the more than 90 member countries, the products and services of all entrepreneurs to leaders around the world, delegations from all continents and the public who are expected to visit more than 100,000 people during the event.

The Francophonie Summit is a meeting between heads of state and government of member countries of the International Organization of French-Speaking Countries (OIF) to discuss and exchange views on important issues such as international politics, the world economy, Francophonie cooperation, human rights, education, culture, and democracy. On the occasion of the summit, two major side events are also being organized: the Francophone Village and the FrancoTech Village.

This great and historic international event is expected to be attended by more than 90 member countries as well as a large number of national and international journalists who will contribute Promote the promotion of Cambodia’s tourism, culture and hospitality potential to the world and enhance Cambodia’s reputation on the international stage.

Please note that the “Village Francophone” event will be held for 5 days from November 13 to 17, 2026 at Wat Botum Wati Garden Phnom Penh, with 6 main locations including: National Pavilions, Daily Art Forum, Workshops and Discussion Areas, Gastronomic Village, Cambodian Products Exhibition Area, and Media Lounge.
