Phnom Penh: Mr. Hun Many, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Service, highlighted the important role of the private sector, especially the Cambodia Tourism Association (CATA), in promoting the national tourism sector, while calling on all citizens to participate as “goodwill ambassadors” to enhance Cambodia’s prestige on the international stage.

This statement was made on the occasion of the Deputy Prime Minister’s presiding over the 30th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Cambodia Tourism Association (CATA) on June 10, 2026, attended by representatives of ministries and state institutions, foreign ambassadors, association leaders, and many national and international distinguished guests.

The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the many tangible achievements of CATA over the past three decades. He emphasized that CATA leaders and members of all generations have actively contributed to the Royal Government in transforming the association into a major driving force for promoting and developing Cambodia’s tourism sector to be highly competitive both regionally and internationally.

Regarding this partnership, Mr. Hun Many said, “All achievements have clearly reflected the close collaboration between the Royal Government, the private sector, citizens, local communities, and development partners. This strong partnership will continue to be a driving force in the development of cultural and natural tourism, which the Royal Government considers ‘green gold’ and a local export that contributes to job creation, income generation and conservation of our cultural, natural and environmental resources.”

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the concept of using “soft power”, considering every Cambodian citizen as a goodwill ambassador and a representative of the national identity. He encouraged participation in expanding this soft power by promoting the unique and beautiful characteristics of Cambodian culture, arts, customs and traditions to increase the attractiveness of both tourists and investors.
