China strongly supports the development of vocational and technical education in Cambodia

Phnom Penh: China has expressed strong support for the development of vocational education in Cambodia and promoted broader cooperation between Chinese and Cambodian vocational institutes.

On June 16, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin warmly congratulated Cambodia on its 9th National Vocational Education and Training Day.

The Ambassador said, “I am pleased to present the National Vocational Standards of the People’s Republic of China to Mr. Heng Sour, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, and to witness together with Mr. Heng Sour the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between BYD and the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training on Cooperation in New Energy Vehicle Technology Training.”

The Ambassador continued, “The Chinese side strongly supports the development of technical and vocational education in Cambodia and promotes broader cooperation between Chinese and Cambodian vocational institutions to provide abundant talent support for Cambodia’s national development.”

As a reminder, as of May 2026, there were a total of 262 TVET institutions under the ministry, including 37 public TVET institutions, 201 private TVET institutions, and 24 organizations/associations, providing short-, medium-, and long-term training to an average of about 60,000 people and apprenticeship training to an average of more than 30,000 people per year.
