Phnom Penh: His Excellency Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, said that the Royal Government recognizes that women are not only beneficiaries of peace, but also essential agents who play an important role in contributing to building and maintaining peace.
The remarks of His Excellency Hun Sen above were made on the occasion of the high-level invitation to preside over the opening ceremony of the 39th World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and the 42nd Annual Meeting of The Olave Baden-Powell Society (OB-PS) on the 16th at the Sokha Hotel in Siem Reap.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that the Royal Government of Cambodia has continued to prioritize gender capacity building and the empowerment of women and girls. In all priority areas in the policy and strategic agenda of the first phase, by strengthening citizens in a highly civilized, culturally, equitably and socially just society, with women at the core of our development.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that the Royal Government of Cambodia has continued to increase investment in gender capacity and increase the empowerment of women and girls in the fields of education, economy, health and public leadership to benefit from gender, creating favorable conditions for women to exercise their rights, make decisions in family planning by reducing vulnerability, gender-based violence and promoting intergenerational relations.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Hun Manet said, “The Royal Government has also recognized that women are not only beneficiaries of peace, but also essential agents, playing an important role In contributing to building and maintaining peace, from the family, community, national society, and on the international stage.
At this point, Samdech Thibati Ko also stated that Cambodia has been recognized on the international stage for sending female peacekeepers to participate in United Nations peacekeeping missions 10 times from 2006 to 2025, of which Cambodia has sent a total of 10,437 forces, including 990 brave women.
