Kampong Speu: On the morning of April 27, 2026, the cassava flour factory of Guanshen Shengda Agriculture Industry Co., Ltd. opened a new construction site in Chek Village, O Commune, Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu Province, between kilometers 74-75.

Cassava is an important agricultural crop in Cambodia, with Cambodia ranking third in Asia in terms of consumption and production, after Thailand and Indonesia This compares to production in 2023 of about 13.89 billion kilograms.

On this occasion, Mr. Son Seng Huot, Secretary of State, Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, and as a high representative, Mr. Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation He said that despite the current situation with the Thai border, the domestic market was still able to absorb the output well. In January 2026, exports to Vietnam increased significantly due to high demand. The cassava sector is shifting from exporting raw materials to processing locally to create added value.

The Secretary of State added that large agro-industrial businessmen such as Oknha Mong Rithy’s company spent about US$40 million per year to purchase cassava and corn from farmers for animal feed production, which has helped reduce animal feed imports and maintain economic flow in the country and development. The Cambodian government has clearly prioritized private sector economic diversification and employment, sustainable and climate-friendly development in order to achieve the first phase of the Five-Point Strategy (2023-2028) and the 2030 and 2050 visions.

Mr. Yang youytong stated that With a total investment of approximately US$20 million, after completion of construction, we expect this project to generate annual sales revenue of approximately US$90 million by producing 100,000 tons of cassava flour, 100,000 tons of dried cassava, and approximately 30,000 tons of cassava chips used for animal feed. This creates a stable, quality and reliable source of supply for cassava trade between Cambodia and China, and contributes to expanding agricultural production chain cooperation, a new driving force, and economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
