Phnom Penh: On April 27, 2026, officials from the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, both at the ministerial and departmental levels, intervened to immediately resolve the case of ML Intimate Apparel (Cambodia) Company in the O’Neang Special Economic Zone, Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province, which announced the closure of all production operations. This was stated by Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.

The spokesperson claimed that: “Under the coordination and immediate attention of the ministry, since this morning, the concerns of the workers have been resolved and the workers and employees have returned home. “Under the trust of the officials in their resolution.”

Through this negotiation, the company agreed to pay the workers the first salary on April 28, 2026. The second salary and other benefits: including seniority and termination benefits, will be paid within the next 3 months.

The spokesperson further emphasized that the benefits of workers have not been ignored, with the ministry placing them on the negotiating table as a top priority. After receiving this explanation and solution, the workers agreed and began to disperse and return home at approximately 11:00 a.m.

The Ministry of Labor’s quick and effective solution to the workers was praised by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training spokesperson Claiming that it is the ministry’s priority to care for workers and employees.
At the same time, the ministry calls on workers who wish to find work to contact Hotline 1297 and the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Department of Labor and Vocational Training.
