Cambodia’s First Lady: Charitable donations to the Red Cross will become food for needy people

Phnom Penh: Dr. Pech Chanmony Hun Manet, Permanent Vice President of the Cambodian Red Cross, said that the funds donated by philanthropists to the Cambodian Red Cross will be transformed into rice, food, clean water, medicine and other urgent necessities for people in need.

On the occasion of celebrating the 163rd anniversary of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day on May 8, 2026, under the theme: “Continue to join forces for humanity” on the morning of May 6, 2026, Her Excellency Dr. Pech Chanmony Hun Manet said that on the 163rd anniversary of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, the Cambodian Red Cross and Red Crescent continued to demonstrate the humanitarian spirit, trust, and solidarity of Cambodians who always stand together when citizens face hardship.

The lady said that all philanthropists are trustworthy, and this is also the compassion that comes from the heart of philanthropy. The money donated by the philanthropists will be transformed into rice, food, clean water, medicine, and other emergency supplies.

Dr. Pech Chanmony Hun Manet affirmed that the Cambodian Red Cross will continue its charitable mission, not leaving any victim alone without assistance, and will join the government in humanitarian work to help victims throughout Cambodia.
