Phnom Penh: A total of 270,000 young people from poor and vulnerable families have benefited from the 1.5 million TVET (Technical and Vocational Training) program, starting in 2024 and running through the first quarter of 2026.

Mr. Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, said on May 6, 2026, that a total of 270,000 young people from poor and vulnerable families have benefited from the 1.5 million vocational and technical training program since its implementation in 2024 to the first quarter of 2026. Of these, 227,000 are in institutions under the ministry and 43,000 are under the Skills Development Fund (SDF).
He stated: “The vocational and technical education sector has been actively participating in the production of human capital and developing a workforce with skills, knowledge, abilities, high competitiveness, resilience, and flexibility to meet the needs of the rapid evolution of the economic, industrial, and digital technology base.”

The spokesperson said: “What the ministry leaders and officials are implementing is in line with the Royal Government’s policy, ensuring that every citizen has a minimum level of life skills and implements the approach of His Majesty the King. Hun Manet is “Learn to finish, learn to know, have a job”.

Mr. Sun Mesa called on young people who have not yet registered to study vocational and technical skills Please come and register to study a professional skill at an institute near your home. Youth from poor and vulnerable families will continue to receive free skills training and even receive financial support.
