Phnom Penh: During a courtesy call on Lao Ambassador to Cambodia, Mr. Sonsai Vannasai, Prime Minister of Cambodia, stressed that Cambodia is ready to continue strengthening and expanding cooperation with Laos in all sectors.

During the meeting, the Lao Ambassador praised And highly appreciated Cambodia’s socio-economic development in all sectors, including infrastructure, which is a driving force for Cambodia’s economic growth to further progress.

The Ambassador expressed satisfaction and highly appreciated the close cooperation in all sectors between Laos and Cambodia, and highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen “Comprehensive and long-term strategic partnership” for the common interests of both countries.

Taking this opportunity, he thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for always providing support and assistance to Laos in the past, especially during the Laos’ rotating chairmanship of ASEAN in 2024, as well as At a time when Laos is in a difficult period due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The ambassador pledged to work hard to further strengthen relations and cooperation between the two countries in all fields and promote the implementation of bilateral agreements for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries. He informed the President that on the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026, the two countries are preparing to hold celebration programs in both Phnom Penh and Vientiane.

In response, the President expressed his congratulations to Mr. Sonexay Vannaxay Who has been appointed as the Lao Ambassador to Cambodia.

The President is confident that he will further contribute to strengthening and expanding the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries to be closer and deeper during his diplomatic mandate.

The President encouraged the Ambassador to work with relevant ministries and institutions of Cambodia to continue strengthening and expanding cooperation in key areas, including trade, economy, transport infrastructure, agriculture, electricity, national defense and security.
