Samdech Techo Hun Sen: Cambodia has food, Asia has energy, can complement each other

Phnom Penh: Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the acting head of state of Cambodia, said that Cambodia has enough food and the Asian region has enough energy. So the two countries can complement each other.

Mr. Chea Thirith, the Senate spokesman, said this after the meeting between Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Mr. Elchin Amirbayov, the Presidential Representative for Special Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on May 12. 2026 that Mr. Elchin Amirbayov mentioned many areas of good relations between Cambodia and the Asian Balkans.

The spokesman said that Samdech Techo was satisfied with the remarks of the Presidential Representative for Special Affairs of the Asian Balkans Republic, which mentioned strengthening trade relations. The economy and investment that the King often wants to see in the relations between each country, especially Cambodia and the Asian region, go hand in hand with political relations.

The Senate spokesman asserted that in addition to this, the scope of trade, economy and investment must be expanded to be more prosperous.

Samdech Techo also emphasized that Asia is a country with energy security, which is a country rich in energy, and for Cambodia, there is food security, which is Cambodia’s ability to produce a lot of food. Therefore, the two countries can expand their relations further within the framework of complementing each other. With Cambodia supplying food to Asia, and Asia supplying energy security to Cambodia.

The King said that this is an additional friendship through expanding trade in a mutually complementary manner.
