Phnom Penh: First Vice Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee (NDMC), Dr. Kun Kim, described the situation of Cambodia’s refugees to the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross mission, saying that the Royal Government is gradually resolving them.

As of May 11, 2026, out of a total of more than 640,000 displaced people, more than 610,000 have returned to their homes. There are still 32,843 people who have not been able to return to their homes.

On the occasion of welcoming Ms. Dorsa Nazemi Salme, Head of Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross, on the morning of May 12, 2026, Mr. Kun Kim informed her about the situation And the government’s response to the displaced people since the border conflict until now has been a step-by-step solution for the people of Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces.

He said that because the houses of the displaced people along the borders of the three provinces were damaged and some were completely destroyed The Royal Government has built temporary houses through the Cambodian Veterans and Retirees Association, along with infrastructure, roads, water, electricity, etc.

He added that the Royal Government, led by Samdech Thip Dei Hun Manet, Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, has instructed relevant ministries and institutions Then implement it by making the response to displaced people effective and efficient.

In response, Ms. Dorsa Nazemi Salman thanked Dr. Kun Kim for providing excellent cooperation in sharing experiences and mechanisms implemented and resulting in results for the displaced people. The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross mission affirmed that it will continue to cooperate further in contributing to humanitarian activities with the government and the Cambodian Red Cross to share the difficulties for the displaced people.
