Phnom Penh: Minister of Information Neth Pheaktra said that fake news poisoning and food poisoning are different.
In the second campaign to combat fake news on the morning of May 18, 2026, Neth Pheaktra said that citizens of all walks of life, especially school students, must ignore fake news if they do not want to be poisoned by fake news.

The Minister of Information said that participating in the fight against fake news is to protect oneself from being poisoned by fake news.

He explained that “when you have food poisoning, you only have diarrhea for one day or at most for two days. “Putting medicine on it is good, but if you are poisoned by information, our emotions and our brains revolve around it, not knowing what medicine to take. We will find medicine only if there is truth.”

The minister said that to avoid being poisoned by fake information, young people and schoolchildren should not watch fake news together. To avoid seeing fake news, verify the source of the information. Also, look at the media system, is there widespread or multiple organizations?

Please note that on the morning of May 18, 2026, the Ministry of Information, under the leadership of Mr. Net Phakrat, launched the “Say No to Fake News” campaign, Step 2, to strengthen information literacy and media for information security. The campaign acts as a defense system and a strategic mechanism in digital literacy that focuses on enhancing the ability of young people to prevent and avoid the traps of political manipulation, fraud, and modern technological crimes.
