Kampot: Dr. Kao Thach, the Royal Government Delegate in charge of the Director General of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank (ARDB) and the President of the Techo Farmers Network Association, on May 27, 2026, invited farmers in Teuk Chhou district, Kampot province, to meet and discuss the use of natural fertilizers and compost to reduce costs.

The meeting program was also attended by Mr. Chan Tha, Deputy Governor of Kampot Province, Chairman of the Teuk Chhou District Council, members, members, commune heads, village heads of all villages, and farmers, a total of 210 people.

Dr. Kao Thach said on the occasion that today’s program has two main objectives: first, on behalf of the Rural and Agricultural Development Bank and second, as the President of the Techo Farmers Network Association, and for ARDB, to provide loans and credits focused on the agricultural sector and processors with low interest rates. In particular, please share this information with our fellow residents of Teuk Chhou to get to know them better.

On that occasion, Dr. Kao Thach told the farmers that “Agriculture will not go far. If there are no farmers, there will be no agriculture today. If we look back 500 years ago, there were no advanced industrial factories. But our economy is strong because the agricultural sector is developing. Because Cambodians have been farmers since ancient times, it is time for our farmers to change their habits and not use a lot of chemical fertilizers, but use natural fertilizers and compost produced locally.”

In the situation where chemical fertilizers are rising in the world, Dr. Tham still urges farmers in Tuek Chhou district and other farmers to consider changing their farming habits, including jointly producing natural fertilizers or compost to reduce costs. In addition, all types of crop cultivation must be able to find the cost of production per unit to see if it is profitable or to decide whether to sell or not to sell in the market.

In addition, the doctor emphasized that in the production and cultivation of farmers, we must be able to consider the health of consumers and our children in the future. In addition, if you don’t have money, you can borrow from ARDB, a state-owned bank with low interest rates that has many functions as a commercial bank. In the past, our farmers were not widely known because it belongs to the state and will not leave you alone. Farmers can deposit money, send money, and make savings deposits, which will be more stable than other banks.

Finally, the role of the Techo Farmers Network Association is firstly an umbrella for farmers to shelter and protect the rights or legality of farmers from abuse or exploitation of farmers, and secondly, as a bridge for you to connect to other opportunities, such as obtaining technical and market information, especially as a bridge to connect the voices of farmers to competent institutions or national and international communities, which must not leave any farmer’s voice behind.
