Foreign Affairs: US President Donald Trump on Friday said US forces had carried out a strike that killed Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, also known as Niño Guerrero, the leader of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua criminal gang.
According to Reuters published on June 13, 2026, Trump said in a post on Truth Social late on Friday: “At my direction, the US Southern Command carried out a swift and powerful strike to kill Nino Guerrero, the notorious leader of Tren De Aragua, one of the most deadly terrorist organizations on the planet.”
“This action was closely coordinated with our friends in Venezuela, with whom we are working very well,” he said.
Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth tweeted on X that the strike took place earlier this week and that Guerrero was “confirmed to have been killed during the strike.”
Venezuela’s information ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
