The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Heng Nguon Srun, acting district governor, members of the district council, commune chiefs, village chiefs, commune agricultural officials, and farmers, totaling 300 people.

Dr. Kao Thach He informed the farmers that today’s meeting is to provide them with the latest information on agriculture and how to contribute to improving the livelihoods of farmers by changing the way they do farming by knowing how to calculate production costs, increase production and animal husbandry by understanding how to use fertilizers or drugs and seeds correctly at the right time, reduce other costs, and achieve high yields and high sales prices.

The delegate stated that “farming is not easy, it is very tiring, so please do it carefully and honestly so that you can get profits and not fall into the debt trap, especially when the price of chemical fertilizers is rising, you should turn to producing natural fertilizers and compost instead. Although the yield is low, it can help the soil to be of good quality and the products to be safe for consumers.”

In the same speech, Dr. Banthi also advised farmers in Chum Kiri district, “If you want to learn real farming skills, farmers can go to a short training course at the Ta Si Samaki Association in Battambang Province, headed by Mr. Nop Nun, the president of the association. ARDB Bank will pay for the food during the course, including raising animals, growing vegetables, and other skills for direct application.”

In addition, Dr. Dang also called on farmers to join the Techo Farmers Network Association, which is a bridge to find financial sources, obtain new techniques and information, transmit the voices and concerns of farmers to leaders, and connect to other opportunities. Second, it is an umbrella or shield for farmers, that is, to protect the correctness or legality of farmers, protect against abuse and exploitation of farmers.
