Phnom Penh: Environmental officials have collaborated with relevant authorities and authorities to implement work to prevent and suppress natural resource crimes and have discovered 140 new land acquisition sites and 140 agricultural land sites in the Boeung Per Wildlife Sanctuary, Phnom Thnaot-Phnom Pok Wildlife Sanctuary, and Kulen-Prohm Tep Wildlife Sanctuary in Siem Reap province.

In the Boeung Per Wildlife Sanctuary, the Natural Resources Crime Suppression Team conducted a field inspection and found that there were 129 new land plots and land plots in the natural disaster area, totaling 330.09 hectares.

In the Phnom Thnaot-Phnom Pok Wildlife Sanctuary, the Natural Resources Crime Suppression Team conducted a field inspection and found that there were 10 new land plots and land plots in the nature protection area, totaling 18.53 hectares. Next, at the Kulen-Prohm Tep Wildlife Sanctuary, the Natural Resources Crime Suppression Team conducted a physical inspection and found a total of 1 new land plot, equivalent to 0.25 hectares.

Please note that the above offense is a violation of the Environmental and Natural Resources Code, Article 851 Point (f) Cutting or clearing forest land or burning or clearing forest land for ownership. For offenders, the working group of the General Department of Nature Protected Areas, the Department of Conservation of the Northern Tonle Sap Nature Protected Areas, the Siem Reap Province Department of Environment will cooperate with relevant authorities to investigate and bring the offenders to justice.
This law enforcement operation took place during March and April 2026 to protect the forest cover in order to directly support the environmental sector chakra strategy, which is the foundation of the “Green” pillar.
