Phnom Penh: The capabilities and creativity of Cambodian youth in the fields of technology and engineering continue to be demonstrated more clearly as automotive mechanics students at the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) have jointly created and installed a large-scale 3D printer by themselves, capable of printing objects over 1.40 meters high to serve the needs of industry and creativity.

Young Leng Soklin, a student majoring in automotive mechanics, said that the large-scale 3D printing machine was installed in the institute itself by the students, while some of the components had to be purchased from outside. The development of the machine took about 3 months and had to pass several tests to ensure its accuracy and efficiency in use.

The young man stated that The reason the team decided to create this machine is because most 3D printing machines on the market are only small in size, while the need to produce large-sized models or objects is increasing. Therefore, the creation of this large-scale machine will help expand production capabilities and create more new works.

Mr. Sun Mesa, spokesman for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, said that this large-scale 3D printer can play an important role in producing prototypes for factories. and enterprises before moving to full-fledged products. It helps business owners to review, evaluate and improve their products more effectively.

He emphasized: “This work is clear evidence of the quality of technical skills training and professions in Cambodia that can cultivate human resources with real capabilities, in line with the needs of the labor market and modern industrial development.”
According to Mr. Sun Mesa, this large-scale 3D printing machine can be used to produce large-scale product models such as furniture, electronics, car parts, sculptures, and other works of art. In addition, it can also be applied in the architectural field for printing building models and construction, as well as in the design and art fields.
This achievement is not only a technical achievement of talented students, but also a testament to the ability, knowledge and creativity of Cambodian youth to develop new technologies to contribute to promoting competitiveness and national economic development in the future. According to the spokesperson.
