Mexico vows to continue aid to Cuba despite US blockade

Mexico: Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has reaffirmed her government’s commitment to providing humanitarian aid to Cuba, saying the island nation faces a difficult situation that requires solidarity from the international community.

During a daily press conference, Sheinbaum pledged to continue sending all kinds of aid as part of the long-standing bond of solidarity between the two countries. “We continue to send all kinds of aid and we will continue to send aid to the Cuban people,” she said.

Ms. Sheinbaum stressed that Mexico will do everything possible to continue to provide support to the island nation, especially as the United States tightens its embargo on Cuba for more than six decades.

“It’s a matter of solidarity,” she added. “The Mexican people have always done this and we will continue to do this because it is a country that needs it.”
