Phnom Penh: Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State, said that the border issue was not only left by the ancestors of the Khmer-Laos and France, but also by the ancestors of the Thais.
In a meeting with provincial councils, cities, districts, communes, and leaders of departments and units around Siem Reap and Oddar Meanchey provinces on June 10, 2026, Samdech Techo said that Cambodia and Thailand have not yet agreed on the measurement of the actual border. Where does the Thai side dare to put up a border marker?

Samdech Techo continued, “The two countries must recognize each other before they can put up a border marker. Our ancestors left it for more than 100 years, not just the ancestors of the French side, representing Laos and Cambodia. The ancestors of the Kingdom of Thailand, the King of Thailand at that time, agreed to sign the Franco-Siamese Treaty of 1904. and the Franco-Siamese Treaty of 1907”.

Please note that Cambodia firmly stands by the Cambodian-Thai international border line left by the Indochina-Siamese Border Commission, respecting the principles of international law, the principle of immutability of the border line, respecting the Convention, the Franco-Siamese Treaty, the map and demarcation record of the Indochina-Siamese Border Demarcation Commission, as well as the agreements and related documents that the two parties have agreed to in the past.
