Phnom Penh: Mr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports and President of the National Scouts of Cambodia, said that the Scout Band has a meaning beyond the art of music, as an effective educational method in developing personnel, teamwork, discipline, responsibility and leadership.

Deputy Prime Minister Hang Chuon Naron’s statement was made at the 3rd National Scout Band Competition under the theme “Scout Band for Peace and Development” on June 16, 2026 at the National Olympic Stadium.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the high permission from His Excellency President Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Her Excellency Dr. Pech Chanmon Hun Manet, Head of the Cambodian National Scout Association, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, to organize the “3rd National Scout Music Competition” under the theme “Scout Music for Peace and Development” in a grand manner this time.

The Deputy Prime Minister deeply appreciated and thanked the provincial and capital scout leaders and the 13 provincial scout band delegations who have paid attention to music training, performance techniques, and various research studies for many months in the past, until they were able to build sufficient capacity to participate in the 3rd National Scout Band Competition, emphasizing that “the Scout Band “It has a meaning beyond the art of music, which is an effective educational method in developing personality, teamwork, discipline, responsibility and leadership.”

The Deputy Prime Minister also gave two recommendations for the effective and sustainable development of the Scout Band, including:

1- The provincial and capital Scout Councils should continue to help mobilize funds from philanthropists and private companies to establish Scout Bands in the capital, provinces, and in educational institutions and communities.

2- The Department of Scouting Cooperation continues to collaborate with the provincial and capital scouts to organize a group of scout music teachers at the national and provincial levels by gathering senior scouts who are skilled in music and marching band music to continue volunteering to help train the newly formed provincial and capital scout music groups. Through this approach, it is believed that “we will be able to solve the challenge of the shortage of scout music coaches across the country.”
