Phnom Penh: Mr. Meas Sophon, Head of the Spokesperson’s Team of the Prime Minister of Cambodia, highlighted the trip of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, accompanied by Her Excellency Dr. Pech Chanmoni Hun Sen, to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Republic of the Philippines for two days from May 7-8, 2026.
Mr. Meas Sophon told reporters on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s invitation to lead a delegation to attend the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu at Morodok Techo Airport on May 7, 2026 that the 48th ASEAN Summit is being held under the theme “Journey to a Shared Future.” The summit will provide a platform for ASEAN leaders to discuss key issues related to building the ASEAN community and the way forward, focusing on: 1) ensuring regional energy security and resilience, 2) food security stability, and 3) the safety of ASEAN citizens, as well as exchange views on regional and international issues with the aim of promoting a future of peace, prosperity, stability, and resilience.
He said that on the occasion of the ASEAN Summit, the President will attend the plenary and the closed sessions of the 48th ASEAN Summit. In addition to attending the summit, the President will also have bilateral meetings with ASEAN leaders to further strengthen cooperation that provides mutual benefits and common interests.
He added that the President and Her Excellency Dr. Pech Chanmoni Hun Manet will lead a high-level delegation of the Royal Government of Cambodia to return to the Kingdom of Cambodia on May 8, 2026.
