Preah Vihear Provincial Prison announces royal decree to commute sentences and pardon 10 prisoners on the occasion of Visakha Bucha

Preah Vihear Province: On the morning of May 4, 2026, the Preah Vihear Provincial Prison Unit organized a ceremony to announce the royal decree on the remission of sentences and pardon of prisoners who have reformed their behavior on the occasion of the Visakha Bucha festival.

The ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Warden 2nd Class Yun Many, Director of Preah Vihear Provincial Prison, and Ms. Wuthea, Deputy Prosecutor of Preah Vihear Provincial Court.

According to the report, on this occasion, a total of 10 prisoners (3 females) were announced to have their sentences commuted, including:
9 prisoners (3 females) Sentences were reduced by 03 months.
1 prisoner was reduced by 06 months.

On that occasion, the head of the prison and the deputy prosecutor also conducted a visit and gave instructions to all prisoners to strive to pay attention to the discipline, obey the orders and internal regulations of the prison. He emphasized that changing oneself to become a good person and a role model is the main reason for considering commuting sentences during major national holidays so that one can return to family reunions and live in society in the near future.

Finally, he also advised all detainees to take care of their health and strive to learn various professional skills available in prison so that they can make a living honestly when they regain their freedom.
