Minister of Rural Development allows Singaporean Ambassador to pay courtesy call and discuss work

Phnom Penh: Mr. Chhay Rithsen, Minister of Rural Development, accompanied by the ministry’s leadership, on the morning of May 7, 2026, allowed Mr. Steven Pang Chee Wee, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Cambodia, and his colleagues to pay a courtesy call and discuss work.

As a start, the Minister Welcomed and informed the Ambassador and the delegation about the construction and development of the country under the cool shade of peace, under the wise and correct leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, the Father of Peace of Cambodia, former Prime Minister and current President of the Senate, and under the wise and continuous leadership of Samdech Maha Povratak Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, through the launch of the Pentagon Strategy Phase 1, aiming to achieve the Cambodian Vision 2050 as a high-income country.

The Minister also continued to highlight the achievements made in the past and the goals of the Ministry of Rural Development through the implementation of the five strategies set out in the National Policy on Rural Development 2025-2035, which has the vision of “building a prosperous, equitable and sustainable Cambodian rural society”.

At the same time, the Minister also highlighted the close cooperation between the Ministry of Rural Development and the Republic of Singapore through human resource training under the Republic of Singapore scholarship for civil servants of the Ministry of Rural Development in the past.

Mr. Steven Pang Chee Wee expressed his deep gratitude to the Minister for the warm welcome he and his colleagues received and expressed his appreciation. And highly appreciates the achievements that have resulted from the efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia.

The Ambassador expressed support for the mission of the Ministry of Rural Development to help rural areas in Cambodia develop faster and ensure sustainable growth of household income. At the same time, the Ambassador also spoke about the relationship and cooperation between the Singaporean Government and the Royal Government of Cambodia in the past, and he also expressed his position to strengthen this cooperation even further.

Before concluding, the Minister thanked the Ambassador and his colleagues for their commitment to continue cooperation with the Royal Government of Cambodia, as well as with the Ministry of Rural Development, to promote faster development in rural areas and transform rural areas in Cambodia. To become a civilized rural society.
