Mr. Sun Chanthol urges all parties to continue digitalizing the transportation system and simplifying border crossing procedures more quickly.

Phnom Penh: Mr. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister, First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia and Chairman of the National Logistics Council, has urged all parties to continue their efforts to digitalize the transport system and streamline border crossing procedures to be faster and more transparent.

Mr. Sun Chanthol’s remarks were made at a promotional workshop on the new Logistics Performance Index (LPI 2.0) and calculation methods by the World Bank on May 6, 2026.

The workshop was organized to enhance the understanding of representatives of relevant ministries and institutions, transport associations and the private sector about the change in the World Bank’s assessment methodology, which has changed from a survey-based approach to using actual data. (Key Performance Indicators – KPIs) to measure the logistics efficiency of each country. At the same time, senior officials from the World Bank also made three key presentations to the ceremony: (1) New Logistics Performance Indicators and Calculation Methods, (2) Logistics Dashboard, and (3) National Logistics Information Center.

On that occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that the logistics sector is the backbone of the national economy and a factor determining Cambodia’s competitiveness in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). A clear understanding of the LPI 2.0 index will help Cambodia identify gaps and implement targeted reform measures to reduce logistics costs and improve supply chain efficiency.

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister also urged all stakeholders to continue their efforts to digitize the transportation system and streamline border crossing procedures to be faster and more transparent in line with international standards.
