Phnom Penh: The Constitutional Council of Cambodia has emphasized that the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Cambodia cannot be violated within its borders.
According to a statement by the Constitutional Council of Cambodia on May 7, it expressed full support for the decision of the Royal Government of Cambodia to initiate a forced conciliation mechanism under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea regarding overlapping maritime claims in the Gulf of Cambodia-Thailand.

The statement further states that Article 2 of the Cambodian Constitution clearly states that the territorial integrity of Cambodia cannot be violated within its borders as defined in an internationally recognized map. Therefore, adopting international legal mechanisms in border resolution reflects a strong commitment to peace, dialogue, the rule of law, and peaceful dispute resolution under international law and rules that the international community always desires.
The Constitutional Council strongly supports and trusts the Royal Government of Cambodia in continuing to protect the Constitution and move towards achieving a border resolution, protecting territorial integrity, defending the nation and the homeland, standing on the principles of pacifism and peace under the mechanisms of national law and international law in force.
