Health Minister raises additional needs with Singapore in the healthcare sector

Phnom Penh: Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, has raised the need for further cooperation with Singapore in strengthening the capacity of officials in the health sector.

On the occasion of receiving a courtesy call from Mr. Steven Pang Chee Wee Singapore’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Cambodia on May 7, 2026, Professor Chheang Ra, highlighted that Cambodia’s health sector has been continuing to develop under the Pentagon Strategy Phase 1, focusing on strengthening public health, preventing and controlling infectious and non-communicable diseases, promoting local health services, as well as developing digital health infrastructure and strengthening human resources.

In addition, the Minister also highlighted the need for further cooperation with the Singaporean side in strengthening human resource capacity through scholarships, technical skills training, research and experience sharing in health sectors such as emergency, infectious disease and laboratory management, and digital health.

In response, the Singaporean Ambassador praised Cambodia’s progress in the health sector and affirmed the Singaporean government’s continued support in strengthening cooperation with Cambodia, especially in human resource development and the sharing of health knowledge and technology.

During the meeting, both sides resolved to further expand their capacities to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Singapore in the health sector to be stronger and more effective.
