Phnom Penh: Samdech Maha Vajiralongkorn Pheu Thai Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, said that Cambodia is continuing to reform to continue creating a favorable and attractive investment environment, aiming to strengthen Cambodia’s resilience and competitiveness.

The greeting of His Excellency Prime Minister Hun Sen on the occasion of allowing Ms. Bridgette L. Walker, Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Cambodia, and her colleagues to visit and bid farewell at the Peace Palace on May 12, 2026, on the occasion of her completion of her diplomatic mission in Cambodia.

During the meeting, Ms. Walker noted that Cambodia has made progress in many areas and that Cambodia-US bilateral relations have also continued to develop positively, including the return of Khmer antiquities, preparations for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and an increase in the number of US government and congressional delegations visiting Cambodia, especially those from the Department of Defense, and the docking of US naval ships in Cambodia.

She added that Cambodia and the United States in October 2025 signed a trade agreement on tariffs aimed at strengthening and expanding bilateral trade.
In response, the President thanked her for actively contributing to strengthening and expanding the Cambodia-US bilateral relationship, making it closer and deeper, especially during Cambodia’s difficult period.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of bilateral cooperation and underlined Cambodia’s commitment to further strengthen relations with the United States.

On that occasion, the President expressed his gratitude to His Excellency Donald Trump, President of the United States, for his contribution in facilitating the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, the Kuala Lumpur Joint Statement of October 26, 2025, and the Joint Declaration of December 27, 2025.

The President and Mrs. Walker also discussed continuing to promote cooperation in a number of other areas, including trade and investment, with the aim of attracting more US investors to Cambodia. She said that US investors are interested in Cambodia.
